DINÂMICA DO GELO MARINHO NA REGIÃO DA PENÍNSULA ANTÁRTICA A PARTIR DOS DADOS DO ERA5

O gelo marinho (GM) desempenha um papel fundamental no equilíbrio climático, influenciando as interações oceano-atmosfera na Península Antártica. Este estudo analisa a variabilidade sazonal e interanual da extensão do GM nos mares de Amundsen-Bellingshausen (MAB) e de Weddell (MW) entre 1979 e 2020, utilizando dados da reanálise ERA5 e testes estatísticos de Mann-Kendall e de Pettitt. Os resultados indicam redução significativa da cobertura de GM no MAB durante o verão e o outono austrais (~20%), em contraste com um aumento moderado em agosto e setembro (~10%), o que indica intensificação da sazonalidade. No MW, observou-se uma leve recuperação do GM em fevereiro e março (~18%). Essas variações estão associadas a modos de variabilidade climática e à baixa pressão do Mar de Amundsen (ASL).
