The general aim of this article is to analyze faxinalense communities, highlighting the differentiated connection between humans and animals, and the araucaria forest and their relationship from the perspective of the notion of domestication contracts. We believe that this experience represents an alternative for rethinking environmental issues, integrating them with the notion of environmental justice and territorial equity. The faxinalense communities represent a rich example of socio-biodiversity in the faxinalenses relationship with the araucaria forest and animal husbandry. These examples serve to provoke reflection on sustainable socio-economic models and highlight the ethical foundations of this relationship. These communities have an agri-food model that is different from the predominant one in the capitalist system, linked to an urban and industrial pattern of development, in which animals tend to be objectified. As for the methodology adopted in this study, it involved literature reviews, observations and interviews carried out in the field, in the Caíva de Bonetes communities, in Canoinhas/SC, and in the Faxinalense do Emboque community, in São Mateus do Sul/PR, in the years 2021 and 2022.
