GAMIFICATION AND ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION: CHALLENGES AND PROSPECTS FOR AWARENESS AND ATTITUDE CHANGE TOWARDS A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE

The integration of games focused on environmental issues has emerged as a promising strategy in education for environmental sustainability, highlighting the need for innovative pedagogical practices to address environmental challenges in educational institutions, including waste management, energy efficiency, and sustainable infrastructure, among others. This study, based on a systematic literature review followed by lexicometric analysis using IRaMuTeQ software and discourse analysis, aimed to investigate how these games can deepen students' environmental awareness and promote a more comprehensive understanding of environmental problems. The results indicate that the integration of entertainment and learning has the potential to catalyze long-term, sustainable behavioral changes and encourage the search for solutions to contemporary challenges. However, it is imperative to invest in technological resources in schools, as well as in public policies that promote the ongoing training of educators and encourage the active participation of students. In this context, teacher training plays a crucial role in the effective implementation of gamification in the classroom, laying concrete foundations for environmental awareness and the adoption of sustainable behaviors through pedagogical practices.
