The land titling in settlements is considered essential for food security, the socioeconomic development of settlers and has the potential to energize the land market as a result of land regularization. This article presents a quantitative- qualitative approach that analyzes the relationship between titling and the consolidation of the territory of family agriculture in the agricultural frontier of Xingu-Araguaia (MT). The main objective is to understand the socio-territorial consequences of the land regularization process in the settlements of Xingu-Araguaia. It also aims to identify the characteristics of the settlements and settled families in the region, as well as to investigate the meaning of land titling among the settlers. It is noted that since 2020 there has been an acceleration in the issuance of land titles in settlements in this region, as a result of neoliberal policies implemented in Brazil in recent years. In addition, it is evident that while the title represents security for families, it can also become a tool for the disintegration of settlements by favoring the expansion of the agricultural frontier, threatening these territories and the advances made in recent years in the struggle for land.
