ANALYSIS OF SUMMER RAINFALL IN 2022: METHODOLOGICAL STRATEGY FOR TEACHING CLIMATOLOGY IN HIGH SCHOOL

Students report difficulties learning Climatology content in the Geography curricular component in the context of the Basic Education stage of High School. Therefore, aiming at a more dynamic approach, aiming at a more dynamic approach, the objective was to evaluate how meteorological satellite images and synoptic charts can be used as teaching materials for identifying atmospheric and oceanic phenomena, constituting tools and techniques for teaching and learning Climatology. Two rainy events of the Brazilian summer of 2022 were defined, one with prominence in the local media and the other with national visibility. The events were used as approaches and didactic strategies for a better understanding of climatic and geographic aspects; they are the rains that occurred in the Cariri Paraíbano on March 13, 2022, and the rains that occurred in Petrópolis - RJ on February 15, 2022. The diversity of data and illustrative materials support methodological strategies for teaching Climatology, providing students with conditions for viewing and recognizing oceanic-atmospheric phenomena that influence the occurrence of seasonal rainfall. The proposed methodological course aimed to systematize a sequence of steps to obtain images and climate data to analyze rainy events, which the teacher can use.
