This article aims to carry out a discussion and theoretical deepening regarding the articulation of the concepts of culture, identity and cultural codes with a focus on the relationship with the geographic space. Furthermore, questions are presented regarding the origin of the word culture and the impact of globalization on cultures and identities. To this end, a bibliographic review and discussion of the concepts were carried out, accompanied by theoretical reflections. The discussions pointed out the relationships and connections between culture, cultural codes and identities, in addition to observing the connection of this tripod with the geographic space, whether in the materialization of cultural codes in space, production of cultural landscapes, or in the construction of territorial identities associated with appropriation of space. Globalization in the postmodern world has altered spatio-temporal references, affecting cultural identities. In this sense, the importance of geographic space for culture and its maintenance is noted, and it is expressed through the landscape filter. The materialization of codes entails the recognition of a social group and the production of its identity, related to space through the territory. Thus, culture influences space and space influences culture, in a circle of construction and differentiation of spaces and cultures.
