Abstract

This work aims to understand the patterns of land use and occupation in the city of Salvador (Bahia), preliminarily in some neighborhoods, in order to reveal the socio-spatial dynamics and the existing disparity. For this research, Alto das Pombas, Barra, Calabar, Canela, Engenho Velho da Federação, Federação, Garcia, Graça, Ondina, Rio Vermelho and Vitória districts, located in the southern zone of the city, were analyzed. Photointerpretation method was used with reference to aerial photographs of Salvador, years 2016 and 2017, 10 cm spatial resolution, cartographic scale 1/1000, in the QGIS software, and collection of secondary socioeconomic data. The mapped classes were delimited, based on construction standards, which are associated with the different socioeconomic conditions of their residents and the functions of use. Land uses and occupations found were: unfilled areas (13.6%), public leisure area (4.3%), green area (21.8%), trade / service (11.2%), institutional (9.4%), water resource (0.2%), residential 1 (17.7%), residential 2 (6.7%), residential 3 (4.1%), indefinite use (9.2%) and mixed zone (1.8%). The methodology developed has the proposal to be used throughout the city of Salvador, as well as in other cities, and to add new uses according to the existing socio-spatial realities.
