This article discusses the teaching of current Geography based on publications of scientific articles that contain the use of Active Methodologies and the application of a questionnaire for teachers. Based on this principle, paths are opened for a discussion on the new configuration of teaching based on technological evolution in opposition to the old methodologies. Regarding transformations in the educational scenario, active teaching methodologies come into play and become topics for discussion about their effectiveness in the teaching-learning process. This study analyzes the use of active methodologies, discusses their importance and efficiency in schools’ daily life, both in the collaboration on teaching students, and in the impact on the educators work. As a research methodology, scientific articles published on the topic were quantified and questionnaires answered by teachers from different locations on the applicability of Active Methodologies in Elementary and Secondary Education were analyzed. As a result, we identified the power that Active Methodologies can have in the teaching-learning process with numerous benefits and challenges. To conclude, it is proven the effectiveness of Active Methodologies in the teaching of Geography by significantly bringing the theory to the practice, as well as valuing the students' lived spaces.
