Paraná State is in a privileged region regarding water resources, with a significant rainfall regime. Nevertheless, there are periods of water scarcity at some times of the year. In addition to the problems of water quantity, the reduction of the area occupied by natural forests, the intensive use of pesticides and the lack of basic sanitation are factors that degrade water quality, leading to its contamination and compromising your availability. In an attempt to contribute with improvements in the quality and quantity of water resources, a project involving research and extension actions are developed, aimed at optimizing water resources conservationist use in rural establishments with organic food production in the municipality of Francisco Beltrão, located in the Cotegipe River basin headboard, specifically in Jacutinga community. Based on a diagnosis of eleven rural units benefiting from the project, actions were defined and implemented aimed at qualitative and quantitative improvement of water consumed by families and effluent disposal systems. Among the actions carried out were bioseptic tanks with evapotranspiration system, banana circles for the disposal of waste water (baths, sinks and laundries), cisterns, drinking fountains for animals, fences around fountains and protection of water sources.
