Abstract

Prioritizing areas for photovoltaic parks requires rigorous evaluation systems due to the complexity of the variables involved. This study developed a model based on Multicriteria Analysis (AHP) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to identify suitable sites in the Lagos Region (RJ), balancing technical efficiency and socio-environmental justice. Criteria were weighted by experts, highlighting solar potential (31.7%) and proximity to the distribution grid (28.1%) as the most relevant factors. The application of the model over an area of 2,010.40 km² allowed for the exclusion of locations with environmental and social restrictions, revealing zones with high potential for solar energy exploitation. The mapping suggests incorporating a critical perspective on the vulnerability of traditional and rural communities as a means of mitigating the effects of delays in official land demarcation processes. This methodological framework proved effective as a support tool for decision-making and sustainable regional energy planning.
