The effects of the Covid-19 pandemic were drastic, resulting in a high contingent of human and material losses worldwide. Brazil also faced this context, with a catastrophic scenario of over 700,000 deaths and approximately 40 million cases. Therefore, the objective of this study is to understand how Brazil geographical complexities correlated with the Covid-19 pandemic experienced. Methodologically, Spearman’s correlation technique was applied to compare data from 74 socioeconomic variables, health profile and structure, as well as environmental data, by Brazilian state, in relation to the incidence of cases and deaths. The results, surprisingly, show a greater trend of cases and deaths in states with better indicators. Finally, within the limits of this study, it is possible to conclude that the effects of the pandemic in Brazil are not objectively linked to socioeconomic and structural health vulnerabilities, indicating that there is another determining factor, which even attenuated the previously expected resilience.
