Abstract

Transparency and availability of scientifically based information, per se, have not been able to change the priorities for public and private managers in   Rio Grande do Sul state. This essay aims to systematize the experience of researchers at the University of Santa Cruz do Sul, qualifying extension actions together with the regional community while including the dimension of climate adaptation. Four areas of activity are briefly described as projects by researchers in the central region, between 2017 and 2022, with reference to the concepts of Framing and Anchoring from the Limited Rationality Theory in the field of organizational studies. Among the lessons learned in advising on decision-making that includes climate adaptation, we highlight the need to adapt the language used in the interaction with economic and public agents; identify potential anchors, as well as overcome the fragmentation of academic specialization.
