Abstract

Violence against women is a violation of Human Rights with serious consequences, therefore, it must be monitored through public health and safety policies; subsidized by different areas of knowledge. Thus, this article analyzed the space-time dynamics of violent crimes against women and associated factors, which occurred from 2014 to 2019 in the municipality of São Luís (MA). This is a quantitative and qualitative research with data from the “Program for the Evaluation and Monitoring of Violence against Women in Greater São Paulo”. Spatial analysis was used to generate cartographic products in addition to graphs. It was observed that the crimes analyzed in São Luís cluster, above all, in the urban region of the municipality, with intense use of firearms. Concentrating mostly at night, between 18:00 and 24:00, perpetrated mainly against women between 19 and 40 years of age. It was concluded that violence against women in São Luís is worrying and alarming, requiring the expansion of public policies that cover the entire municipality, with efficiency and effectiveness of public equipment.
