SOCIOECONOMIC IMPACTS PRODUCED BY THE INSTALLATION OF A FEDERAL INSTITUTE: AN ANALYSIS OF THE REALITY OF OEIRAS (PI)

Abstract

The objective is to identify the possible socioeconomic impacts caused by the installation of a Federal Institute in the city of Oeiras (PI). It is argued that the educational services delivery brings about relevant social and economic dynamics for the local community, as a result of the dynamism of the forms and contents present in the urban space of Oeiras. The research was based on bibliographies related to the (re) production of space, the role of the installation of Federal Institutes in such dynamics and the application of online questionnaires through google forms with the servers in order to investigate their expenditures in the city, as well as the products and services that they consume the most. It was found that the installation of the IFPI in Oeiras contributes to the dynamics of the local economy, either in material dimensions (goods and services), or in cultural areas (city entertainment). Such facts are evidenced with the insertion of more than ten million reais a year (as projected for 2020 in gross values) only from salaries to be paid to civil servants, and such resources will be available for the consumption of the city and in it.
