Abstract

Geodiversity is notable for the diversity of factors that form it and its importance for the occurrence and maintenance of natural and ecosystemic processes essential for life on Earth. Considering the socioeconomic risks of degradation, the need to develop geoconservation projects, activities and actions is imperative. In this context, this manuscript aims to present a theoretical and methodological proposal for geoculture, a concept proposed to analyze the influence of geodiversity on cultural manifestations, material or immaterial, the associated implications and their possible applicability; concept aimed at the knowledge, valorization and application of geoconservation. Methodologically, the study was based on a qualitative approach, with descriptive purposes, segmented in a systematic bibliographic survey, analysis of the theoretical framework and field surveys. As results, geoculture concepts, parameters, assumptions and bases are presented and problematized, with the analysis of theoretical and practical forms of development and application; as well as detailing and explaining the stages of the theoretical-methodological script. This proposal is expected to represent an effective geoconservation strategy, which enhances the scope present in the (geo)cultural bases used, directing them to the specificities and needs of geodiversity; having its script used, improved and consolidated through its application.
