Abstract

Since ancient times, stones have been essential components of magical and religious rituals, traces of which still shape the landscape today. Artists, for their part, have always manipulated mineral objects, using them as subjects for representation, sculptural elements, or parts of narrative works. This article focuses in particular on the performative works of women artists who revisit ancestral knowledge and ritual practices. Through an analysis of artistic borrowings from ancient ritual forms, we will examine how these works propose ways of reconnecting with the Earth, while developing new spiritual imaginaries.
