Abstract
A demarcação de parcelas rurais, através de procedimentos cartográficos adequados, sempre referenciada aos sistemas geodésicos nacionais, vem se tornando imprescindível aos países em desenvolvimento. As ações de demarcação incluem-se, por sua grande importância, no contexto mais amplo da estabilidade social, já que vem representar a instrumentação básica para a definição espacial da garantia jurídica da propriedade rural. Os sérios problemas de ordem social decorrentes de demarcações mal conduzidas (ou sua inexistência) levadas a efeito por processos expeditos, sem a necessária materialização no solo, não raramente atingem a segurança nacional.
