Abstract
The aim of this work is to present a methodology which has been used at the Instituto de Cartografia Aeronáutica (ICA) to make Aeronautical Visual Charts from satellite images in order to accomplish its systematic mapping program mainly in Amazonian Region. We present all the ICA involvement related to utilization of the satellite images in the process of making VFR Charts. The ICA operations related to the use ofsatellite imagery to product VFR Chartsare presented, from the first cartographic updating works to the development of a methodology of elaboration of a space map in all its steps - from the acquisition phase to the final chart printing - utilizing an Intergraph interactive graphic system.
