Dificuldades Climatológicas para Fotografia Aérea na Região Cacaueira da Bahia

Abstract
A fotografia aérea é hoje um instrumento imprescindível sobretudo para a mais rápida obtenção de informações qualitativas e quantitativas de recursos naturais em grandes áreas. No primeiro caso ela permite a interpretação de informações obtidas sobre a imagem da área fotografada (Fotointerpretação), enquanto informações quantitativas mais precisas são obtidas com base em observação de características geométricas da foto aérea (Fotogrametria).
Com o objetivo de utilização de fotografias aéreas verticais em levantamento de recursos diversos da Região Cacaueira e áreas de sua influência, a CEPLAC contratou voos, iniciados em 1964, para cobertura total de uma área aproximada de 40.000 km², na escala de 1:25.000, utilizando-se câmaras normais. Todavia, em virtude de condições climatológicas peculiares à área, as tentativas para obtenção de fotografias não produziram resultados animadores.
