Nascido em 1799, nos Estados Unidos da América, Asa Mahan (1799-1889) foi o autor de obras importantíssimas no campo da filosofia, como: A System of Intellectual Philosophy (1854), The Science of Logic; or An Analysis of the Law of Thought (1857), e A Critical History of Philosophy (1883), a última considerada por diversos filósofos como a mais importante obra de filosofia já escrita.
