Abstract
Pedro Demo is from Santa Catarina, son of farming parents. He studied at a Franciscan seminary, where he made philosophy and part of theology. In Germany, he received a doctorate in sociology (1971), whose thesis received full marks and was published in 1973 (Anton Hains Verlag, Meisenheim). Postdoctorate at the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) (1999-2000). In December 2009 he was appointed Emeritus Professor of UnB. He has publications in the areas of social policy (education) and scientific methodology. It is dedicated to the challenge of continuing teacher education. In the two hundred and thirty-two pages, introduction, fourteen chapters, and references, PedroDemo brings the approach of learning through authorship, contrasting instructional teaching in schools and universities.
