This article analyzes the heritage dimension of landscapes as a possibility to reassess the identity and territorial memory of native people; through the identification of the components of landscape heritage and the delimitation of landscape units, that repositionate the values assigned by the local population, traditional knowledge and the forms of territorial appropriation of those who inhabit and build landscapes on a everyday life. In this analysis the community of San Pedro Atlapulco, in Estado de Mexico, was studied. In the last 50 years the transformations of the landscape tend to be accelerated, with a peri-urban context and under the schemes dictated by neoliberal globalization.
