FOCUS AND SCOPE

 

CAMPO-TERRITÓRIO: Revista de Geografia Agrária, created in 2006, registered under the ISSN number: 1809-6271, is a publication of the group of brazilian researchers of Agrarian Geography, whose names were discussed and approved, in plenary, at the XVII Encontro Nacional de Geografia Agrária (XVII National Meeting of Agrarian  Geography) in Gramado ( Rio Grande do Sul), in november 2004.

The magazine is published every four months and in exceptional circumstances, there may also be special issues. As a vehicle for scientific registration and dissemination, its objectives are:

 

  1. to publish unpreceded works, of critical review on a topic pertinent to Agrarian Geography and related areas or results of empirical, experimental or conceptual research;
  2. to encourage the exchange of experiences in its specialty with other institutions, national or foreign, that maintain similar publications;
  3. defend and respect the principles of pluralism of philosophical, political and scientific ideas.

The magazine is organized into five sections:

 

Articles: It brings together unpublished manuscripts that present results of empirical or theoretical research or critical review related to the theme of the magazine.

Notes: related to observations, opinions, criticisms, comments and explanations on topics related to the magazine's theme.

Reviews: Gathers manuscripts that present critical reading of relevant works to the area of ​​books, theses, dissertations and films.

The texts must be related to the magazine's theme and must have been published / edited in the last 2 years.

Experience Reports: reports of fieldwork or lived experiences.

Dossier: It brings together a set of articles that address a specific theme, conceived after a received proposal from the academic community or from a call made by the editors.

 

There is no cost for authors in submitting and publishing their articles in the magazine Campo-Território.

 

EDITORIAL POLICY

 

The Campo-Território magazine values ​​the originality of the submitted manuscripts, their importance for researchers in the field of Agrarian Geography, the theoretical and methodological rigor, the quality and the relevance of the evidence that supports the argument developed by the authors.

The submitted manuscripts are previously evaluated by the Editorial Committee, which verifies their relevance to the scope of the magazine and to the respective proposed section and submits them to a plagiarism and self-plagiarism verification program. Those who meet the editorial criteria are referred to the “double-blind” evaluation carried out by peers. The evaluators have the title of doctor and belong to a national or international scientific institution. The names of the authors, the partners and the institutions to which they belong will remain confidential throughout the process. The magazine will publish the names of ad hoc partners when the four-month edition closes.

If there are any controversies regarding the evaluation, the editors will submit the manuscript to other evaluators in order to obtain the majority of a final decision. The authors are informed about the entire evaluation process.

Manuscripts that do not suit the magazine's editorial criteria are returned to the authors. This group refers to texts that are not original, do not address a central issue in the area of ​​Agrarian Geography or related; are merely descriptive, without developing a theoretical and methodological analysis of the issue addressed; do not present relevant contributions to the analysis of the topic addressed; do not present empirical elements or sufficiently developed arguments to support their analysis and conclusions.

The Editorial Commission may publish an article produced by invitation, in order to contribute to some more pressing debate in the area. This article will be evaluated only by the Editorial Committee.

 

AVALUATION PROCESS BY PAIRS

 

The Campo-Território magazine uses the double blind peer-review system.

The members of the Scientific Council will be appointed by the members of the Editorial Council. The Scientific Council is composed of professors and / or researchers from teaching and research institutions in the country and / or abroad with the purpose of issuing an opinion regarding the works sent for publication in the periodical. The duties of the Members of the Scientific Council are: a) to issue a technical opinion, about the works submitted to the Magazine, according to their respective areas of specialty and / or affinity; b) submit a opinion on the work under evaluation, mandatorily filling in the Evaluation Form; c) present suggestions for reformulation, when the opinion is favourable with reformulations; d) support and / or justify the opinion issued according to its area of specialty and / or affinity; e) revise, eventually, the spelling of the texts typed during the stages of the magazine's editing process; f) respect the deadlines set for sending the opinions. The members of the Scientific Council, who on two consecutive or alternate occasions do not present their opinions in a timely manner, will be automatically replaced by another one, having their name excluded from the list of Reviewers of the periodical. . The papers, to be published in the CAMPO - TERRITÓRIO: Revista de Geografia Agrária, should obtain two favourable opinions and, for that, they will be submitted to the appreciation of two reviewers, chosen by specialty and / or affinity in relation to the thematic content of the works under appreciation. If one reviewer approves the publication and another does not, it will be up to the Editorial Council to decide whether or not to publish it. The reviewers have the right to present a favourable opinion conditioned to the reformulation of the article or similar work, to make suggestions for reformulation, as well as the right to suggest the editing of the reformulated text, as long as any changes do not affect its content. The opinions must be legible and present a critical evaluation of the articles or similar works, highlighting their importance. If the opinion indicates reformulations in a specific work, all sections should be highlighted with paragraphs and / or pages, as appropriate. The reviewers are given a maximum period of thirty consecutive days, from the date of delivery of the article, for the presentation of the opinion to the Editorial Council of the magazine. This deadline may be extended for an equal or shorter period, at the discretion of the Editorial Council, preceded by a written request from the reviewer, provided that the extension of the term does not incur a delay in the composition and publication of the magazine. The reviewer who, for a fully justifiable reason (unforeseeable circumstances or force majeure) cannot issue an opinion in a timely manner, even if the extension of the deadline provided for in the previous paragraph is possible, must inform the Editorial Council in writing, requesting its replacement by another reviewer. The reviewer who fails to present the opinions in a timely manner on two consecutive or alternate occasions will automatically be replaced by another, having his name excluded from the list of reviewers of the CAMPO – TERRITÓRIO: Revista de Geografia Agrária.

 

PERIODICITY

 

Campo-Território is an electronic magazine published every four months, and receives articles in continuous flow, according to the submission deadlines indicated below:

April edition: until March 31

August edition: until July 31

December edition: until November 30

Special Editions / Thematic Dossiers: according to each Call

 

As of the April 2020 edition, the magazine will adopt the system of continuous publication and the articles will be published as soon as they are approved and edited.

 

PUBLIC ACCESS POLICY

 

This magazine provides public access to all its content, following the principle that making access to research free of charge generates a greater global exchange of knowledge. Such access is associated with an increase in reading and citing an author's work. For more information on this approach, visit the Public Knowledge Project, a project that developed this system to improve the academic and public quality of research, distributing OJS as well as other software to support the publication system of public access to academic sources.

Authors are authorized to assume additional contracts separately, for non-exclusive distribution of the version of the work published in this magazine (for example: publishing in institutional repository or as a book chapter), with acknowledgment of authorship and initial publication in this magazine.
