Abstract

Electronic commerce requires a set of infrastructures and the materiality of the territory, especially in the crucial stages of distribution and delivery. To combine speed in goods shipping with increasing of profitability, the need for territorial fluidity and the search for the best strategic location of new investments by companies expand. This article aims to analyze the process of establishing distribution centers for e-commerce goods in the municipality of Extrema (MG), Brazil, pointing to new forms of specialization of places in the technical-scientific-informational milieu. The research was conducted by bibliographical review, data collection and mapping of distribution centers and infrastructures of the territory, in addition to fieldwork. The results presented an update of the war among places in the digital economy, giving Extrema (MG) primacy in e-commerce logistics in Brazil, in a process of expansion of the Macro Metropolis of São Paulo. At the same time, the problems and contradictions of the place intensify.
