This article explores the spatial, temporal and racial characteristics of violence against women captured by the Special Police Station for Women in the municipality of Ilhéus, located in northeastern Brazil. The aim of this study was to draw a profile of violence against women in the municipality of Ilhéus, guided by the interest in knowing the spatial distribution of notifications from the Special Police Service for Women (DEAM). The work was based on descriptive statistics and geoprocessing was used to map the location of occurrence of violence against women complainants in the years 2013 and 2018, and 2268 complaints were analyzed. The results showed that the most incident cases recorded involve crimes of threat and bodily injury, totaling more than 90% of the notifications, and having as main victims pardo self-reported women, in age group from 25 to 29 years in 2013, and from 35 to 64 years in 2018. It was also found that the occurrences are more common on weekends, especially on Sundays, from 5 pm to 8 pm. The results also provide indications about the link between areas of poverty and gender-based violence.
