Heritage and patrimonialization’s discussions have gained relevance and prominence in several scientific fields as well as in society. Although late, geographer’s presence in debates and their contributions on the subject are consolidating. The article’s hypothesis is that heritage is a category of thought that enables the recognition of new spatio-temporal relationships from the case study of heritage actions. To test this hypothesis, an analysis of three emblematic objects was carried out, based on the narrative idea: the Itatiaia National Park, the historic cities of Minas Gerais and the Aterro do Flamengo Park. It was discovered that the verb tenses that would characterize the cases, respectively, would be the mythological, the past perfect and the unprecedented past tense of the future. It is concluded that admitting heritage as a category of thought for Geography allows not only the discovery of singular space-time situations, but also to analyze the heritage, the patrimonialization and its consequences from a new point of view.
