HISTÓRIA DA FORMAÇÃO DE PROFESSORES DE GEOGRAFIA NO TRIÂNGULO MINEIRO: IRMÃ LORETO E A FISTA EM UBERABA-MG

Abstract

Given the need to better understand current aspects of academic culture and school culture in which the discipline Geography is immersed, the text develops around the objective of recognizing the historical processes of institutionalization of Degree in Geography in Higher Education in the Triângulo Mineiro (Minas Gerais, Brazil). Based on methodological procedures for researching oral history and documentary research, using interviews with Sister Loreto as a direct source of data, the text assesses how the city of Uberaba and the region are part of the history the formation of Geography teachers in Brazil, from the creation, in 1949, of the Geography Course at the Faculdade de Filosofia, Ciências e Letras Santo Tomás de Aquino (FISTA), placing him among the first in the country. As a result, it brings the Sister Loreto`s trajectory life and formation, founder of the Geography Course at this institution and who trained Geography teachers for over forty-five years, and being highlighted aspects of the history of school subjects and the practice of teaching Geography.
