Abstract

The contribution of Urban Health Geography is relevant to understand the territorial dynamics of Primary Health Care Network (RAB) in the city of Belém (PA), which has Basic Health Units (UBS) that are deterritorialized with similar performance to health posts model in the 1980s.This article presents an analysis of RAB scope and in parallel discuss the relation between the disconnected RAB and high mortality rates with wide spread of Covid-19 in a space of present socioeconomic disparity in Belém (PA).The discussion is based on the document review of National Primary Care Policy (PNAB, 2017), mapping of UBS and Family Health Program (ESF) and observation of the limits of its performance between neighborhoods. As a result, it was found that the RAB in Belém follows its access standard of deterritorialization from traditional service model, without territorial assistance from Family Health teams (eSFs). Even before the pandemic, the chaos of municipal public health in Belém was already announced by the precariousness of the AB network, due to the lack of resources in the hospital network and emergency care, in addition to poor housing conditions and local basic sanitation.
