Abstract

The displacements made between small-sized municipalities in Southeastern Brazil revealed the existence of new demographic trends. The purpose of this article is to find out the territorial settings associated to Migratory dynamics in these locations. For your achievement were analyzed the microdata of the 1991, 2000 and 2010 demographic censues produced by IBGE. It was considered as Small municipalities those with population of less than 50 thousand inhabitants as already used by IBGE (2010). The 1,430 small municipalities were individualized in order to evaluate the weight of immigration and emigration of this group. The results highlighted that a considerable part of the small municipalities have experienced an increase in the rate of population growth when compared to other municipalities of larger demographic size. Besides that, participated expressively in the process of spatial redistribution of the population, constituting, important nucleus of population attraction. This fact suggests the strengthening of certain regional centers and a greater dynamism of the local economy.
