CLASSIFICATION AND ANALYSIS OF LANDSCAPE UNITS IN THE DISTRICT OF TAPERUABA, SOBRAL, CEARÁ

The present article sought to analyze and classify the landscape units of the District of Taperuaba, Sobral, State of Ceará, Brazil, by the means of an environmental and typological analysis. For that purpose, three landscape units were determined: the fluvial plain of Bom Jesus River, the dry hills and the pediplains and foothills of Taperuaba. Its potentialities and limitations were analyzed, environmental impacts were identified, the framework of vulnerability and environmental sustainability was diagnosed, and finally, were established mitigating guidelines. In addition, the dating of four samples of sediment from the Bom Jesus River were performed using the method of Optically Stimulated Luminescence (OSL), which indicated the intensity of the erosive action, resulting from natural and anthropic processes, confirming the empirical information collected in the present research.
