Abstract

The conception of the social function of the land arises from the idea that this is a common good of humanity, indispensable to the existence of all forms of life and shelter for the maintenance of all peoples and their cultures. Its fulfillment is conditioned to the productivity of the land, adequate and rational use of natural resources, observance of the labor legislation and preservation of the environment simultaneously. The present article intends to discuss the precepts of the social function of the land, its history and its importance as well as the inability of the large propety to fulfill all its legally established pillars. Thinking about such issues is essential in times of latifundial class invading agrarian reform and demarcation of land as well as in the disruption of labor and environmental legislation. The methodology used consisted of a bibliographical review on the thematic that allowed to conclude that the large propety is awkward in the fulfillment of the social function of the land.
