About the Journal

Focus and Scope

Revista Caminhos de Geografia is an online periodical organized and maintained by the Graduate Program in Geography (PPGEO) at the Federal University of Uberlândia. Caminhos de Geografia aims to disseminate scientific knowledge on topics relevant to Geography and related areas with interfaces in Human, Technological, and Environmental Sciences.

To this end, original manuscripts resulting from scientific research of an empirical, experimental, or conceptual nature in the area of Geography and related areas are published (provided that they are, in essence, related to Geographic Science), thus contributing to the expansion of scientific debate and access to geographic knowledge on a national and international level.

Open Access Policy

Revista Caminhos de Geografia has open and free access, not charging authors for any type of submission or publication fee.

Qualis Capes

The Caminhos de Geografia Journal is Qualis A1 in the ​​Geography area.

Periodicity and submissions

Revista Caminhos de Geografia is a bimonthly periodical, thus having six annual editions: February, April, June, August, October, and December.

Submissions to Revista Caminhos de Geografia are exclusively online and, except for exceptional occasions, occur in a continuous flow system through the address: ONLINE SUBMISSIONS.

For submission, one of the authors must be registered in the RCG system and will be the editors' main contact. However, before submitting the article, authors must follow the guidelines available in GUIDELINES FOR AUTHORS.

All articles submitted must have at least 1 (one) author with a PhD title.

Authors who have submissions in progress will only be able to make a new submission after receiving the final opinion (accept or reject) of those which are already in the editorial process at the journal.

Caminhos de Geografia does not publish dossiers, reviews, review articles, and works presented at academic events.

Peer Review Process

Firstly, the manuscripts submitted to Revista Caminhos de Geografia are analyzed by the editors according to the following criteria: alignment with the scope of the journal, compliance with submission standards (listed in the Conditions for submission and the Guidelines for authors) and check for plagiarism (using a specific software).

If the requirements are met, manuscripts are immediately forwarded to 2 reviewers from the journal's Scientific Committee or ad hoc reviewers, in blind peer review (manuscripts are sent for evaluation without identifying authorship). All reviewers are experts with renowned knowledge in the thematic areas of Geography and related sciences and are recognized in the topics covered.

The reviewers will give opinions on the scientific quality of the work, according to the following parameters: Originality, Scientific relevance, Cohesion, Clarity, and Graphic quality of the figures.

In case of conflicting opinions, the manuscript will be forwarded to a third reviewer.

Based on the reviewers’ opinions, the editors will make the appropriate referral, which may be one of three options: accept, request revisions, or reject the article.

When reviewers request changes, the authors will have a deadline to make them and will be subject to a new blind peer review. If the reviewers’ requests are not met, the manuscripts will be rejected by the Editorial Board.

The editors reserve the right to invite renowned experts in the field to publish research and studies, in which case the editors are the reviewers themselves.

The average time between submission and the final opinion is approximately 6 months.

Article publication process

Since submissions occur in a continuous flow, analysis processes of Revista Caminhos de Geografia are also carried out continuously.

Once an article is approved for publication, it enters the publication queue.

Publications can occur in any annual edition (February, April, June, August, October, and December).
