POETRY SLAM: SUBALTERN URBAN ORALITURE OF BLACK WOMEN

Poetry slam is a poetic movement that takes place in urban spaces where subalternized subjects — women, black people, indigenous people, and people from the outskirts — express themselves freely. The work focuses on the narrative of black women in the movement, aiming to discuss slam as a subaltern urban orality performed by black women in the city. The methodology used is based on a reading focused on geographies of race and gender in urban space based on the discussion of their geographic distribution in the country and the report of the experience in the battle of Slam das Minas SP, as an expression of an embodied intimate geography. As a result, it problematizes how slam is an embodied spatial phenomenon of resistance and demand by black women in urban space expressed by the orality of bodies that carry and update legacies of African oral traditions
