Walking through the city is a space practice which takes many connotations, among these, the touristic and educational. Following such perspective, in this article we will be dealing with guided walks. In this regard, as it has strong rapprochement to heritage meanings, we are interested in the touristic landscape of the historic center of São Luís, Brazil. This way, seeking to identify and explore representations about the city and the landscape transmitted on the intineraries and on the ongoing processes. As an empirical plan, we have selected four categories of itineraries, as follows: i) public spectacular; ii) private guided tourism; iii) educational; iv) thematics. As we take advantage of the poem “Landscape: As It's done”, Carlos Drummond de Andrade, we reflect the idea that the landscape does not exist: it's done by walking through the space. In fact, we conclude that the guided subjects actively participate in the experimentation of the world of which they are practitioners, which makes the tourist itinerary a given objective, but also subjective.
