Environmental planning of Olga Stream hydrographic basin, UGRHI Pontal do Paranapanema - Sao Paulo

Abstract

Olga stream is a tributary of Santo Anastacio River, located at Presidente Prudente city in the UGHR- Pontal do Paranapanema - São Paulo. This research aimed to raise the status of environmental conditions in Olga stream basin and thus contribute to environmental planning for recovery, conservation, and preservation. It was carried out literature surveys and assessed basin river characteristics, water analysis (dissolved ox- ygen, pH, biochemical oxygen demand, total nitrogen, temperature, turbidity and total solids). In addition, making use of remote sensing and Geographic Information System -GIS, were generated maps of use and occupation of land and environmental vulnerability, in order to carry out further research on the environ- mental conditions of the basin, and to infer possible degradation factors of the watershed.
