Abstract

Hunger in Brazil persists historically and structurally, highlighting the deep social and economic inequalities that permeate the country, as well as challenging the human right to adequate food. In this sense, this article aims to describe the realization of an activity, whose theme was “Hunger and Full Use of Food”, part of the project “Knowledge, Flavors and Gastronomic Practices of Brazilian Cuisine” For this, an experience report was carried out based on extension workers and teachers of the Gastronomy course. The interactive workshop included theory and practice, and its results were based on an evaluation questionnaire applied to 62 students aged 13 to 18, from three different classes. Thus, the 2nd year class presented more students in relation to the two 9th year classes, which already had prior knowledge about the data presented. Therefore, it can be concluded that there is a need to expand the debate in schools, since Brazil has returned to the hunger map, as well as to raise awareness among students about combat actions and encourage knowledge about public policies. Finally, it is relevant to inform them how to fully use food, in order to avoid waste in Brazil.
