integrating the ethical use of Artificial Intelligence into continuing education for teachers in Professional and Technological Education

The rapid dissemination of Generative Artificial Intelligence tools has expanded opportunities to support learning and text production while also intensifying concerns related to authorship, academic integrity, and plagiarism. In the context of Professional and Technological Education, guided by integral human development and the integration of work, science, and culture, these challenges become particularly relevant. Accordingly, this study aimed to analyze the perceptions and practices of teachers in Professional and Technological Education regarding the use of Generative Artificial Intelligence in academic activities, as well as to evaluate the contributions of a didactic sequence developed for teachers’ continuing education on the ethical use of these technologies and the prevention of plagiarism. This qualitative applied study was conducted with teachers from integrated technical high school programs at the Federal Institute of Education, Science, and Technology of São Paulo — Sertãozinho Campus. Data were collected through a diagnostic questionnaire, the implementation of a didactic sequence in the Moodle learning environment, and semi-structured interviews, which were analyzed using the Free Interpretation Analysis methodology. The results indicated moderate technical familiarity with Generative Artificial Intelligence and showed that the proposed training enhanced teachers’ critical awareness of authorship, academic integrity, and pedagogical mediation.
