Popular education as a tool for understanding current dilemmas

Abstract

This article, through the revival of popular education, analyzes the possibility of disseminating knowledge about the crises currently ravaging the world. Thus, it highlights the popular approach to complex issues of contemporary reality. In addition, the article problematizes the difficulties in understanding the current moment of crisis (economic, socio-environmental etc.) and the resulting international disputes that the context entails. Furthermore, it identifies changes in the form of public intervention, insofar as many nation states, faced with this critical moment, have begun to subordinate their internal policies to the guidelines of multilateral development agencies, such as the World Bank. Finally, it concludes by indicating the involvement of the social strata most affected by the crises in the resumption of teaching-learning processes based on the theoretical and methodological principles of popular education.
