Construction and validation of an educational booklet for adherence to hemodialysis treatment

This methodological study aims to develop and validate the content of an educational booklet on health guidelines for adherence to hemodialysis treatment, based on an integrative review, as well as manuals and guidelines in the area. This resulted in the development, construction, and content validation of a reliable instrument to be used with people undergoing hemodialysis treatment. To validate the booklet, we used the Delphi technique and the calculation of the Content Validity Index, which seeks expert opinions. For its validation, seven judges with practical experience in the field of nephrology were invited to make their considerations regarding the content of the booklet. This study resulted in the production of a version of the educational booklet ‘Learn more about how to adhere to hemodialysis treatment’. All the judges made their comments regarding the content of the booklet, which were considered and accepted in the final version of the material. Finally, the constructed and validated material presented good evidence, considering it was approved by all judges/experts. Thus, the booklet can be considered a facilitating resource for improving knowledge and adherence practices to hemodialysis treatment.
