Abstract

Review of the book “La misión sagrada: seis historias sobre qué es ser docente en el Perú” written by teacher and researcher Ricardo Cuenca. The central theme of the work is the construction of professional teacher identity through the analysis of six teacher narratives, capable of mobilizing various dimensions that permeate the training and performance of teachers. Given the importance of professional training and the construction of teacher identity as central components of policies and practices at any stage of education.

    PhD in Education, Universidade Estadual Paulista Júlio de Mesquita Filho, State of São Paulo, Brazil; post-doctoral internship in Education, at this university, and in Educational Psychology, at the University of Minho, Braga, Portugal; professor at the Faculty of Education, Federal University of Minas Gerais, State of Minas Gerais, Brazil; coordinator of the Network "Observatory of Support Networks for School Inclusion and Inclusive Education" (OIEEI), which is linked to the Research Group "Observatory of Support Networks for School Inclusion (former GEDILPE/CNPq/Unicentro); member of the Research Group "Physical and Sensory Disabilities" (DefSen/CNPq-Unesp) and of the Study and Research Group on Early Childhood Education and Childhoods (NEPEI/UFMG).
