This article presents an overview on the importance of Interart Studies and the different art forms, along with how this discipline has been covered in art courses in Brazilian universities. In the first section, we introduce epistemological and historical background on artistic correspondence between different mediums and how this topic has been taught in art courses. We examine different curricula in both undergraduate and graduate level art courses and the classes they offer that provide students with knowledge of Interart Studies. We present theses, books, and articles covering parallelism in the arts and its importance to contemporary art research and creation. Finally, we state the importance of Interart Studies in art curricula. We point to new possibilities of dialogue between different academic disciplines and the arts, as well as dialogue between different art forms. We also demonstrate how these interactions can improve the curricula of undergraduate and graduate art courses and help students comprehend the creative process and research on contemporary art.
