Studies and practices concerning African and indigenous cultural matrices are referred to by laws 10,649/2003 and 11,645/2008, respectively. Therefore, in this writing, the author presents the process of teaching and learning the content of Afro-Brazilian and indigenous history and culture in the classroom, which culminated in the aesthetic and artistic development of an Afro-indigenous fair at the Educational Center 01 of Riacho Fundo II, public and high school unit of the Federal District. Through a report, reflections and theoretical and empirical dialogues, the author shows how the elaboration of costumes with reusable materials, inspired by cultural elements of the ancestry of african and indigenous matrices, can raise a pedagogical debate about the prejudice incorporated into the school routine, and in other contexts, aiming at the promotion of an anti-racist aesthetic education.
