Abstract

This study aimed to identify flood levels susceptibility in the district of Chokwe (Mozambique) in a context in which it is expected that there will be an increase in extreme events as a result of climate change. Chókwe district is located on a floodplain in the Limpopo River basin. To prepare the mapping, weights were applied according to the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) methodology, proposed by Saaty in the 1970s. The map was carried out by ArgGis 10.4.1. Altitude was the most influential factor. The other factors that most significantly contributed to the formation of susceptibility were: the proximity of drainage channels and the Topographic Wetness Index (TWI).
