Abstract

Brazil is a world leader in the production and export of coffee, cultivated in different management systems. Little is known about the environmental effects of these systems, so the aim of this study was to use soil physical, chemical and biological parameters as indicators of changes in the agroforestry system in Taquaritinga do Norte, Pernambuco, Brazil. The samples were collected in three relief positions: upper third - TS, middle third - TM and lower third - IT of the slope. The physical (granulometry, porosity, density and texture), chemical (pH, exchangeable acidity, base sum, base saturation, aluminum saturation, effective and potential cation exchange capacity, macro and microelements of the soil derived from matter were evaluated. organic) and microbiological (basal respiration, microbial biomass carbon, metabolic quotient and microbial quotient). Compared to MN, APS showed satisfactory behavior, mainly in TS, where it obtained the best nitrogen (N), potassium (K), calcium (Ca), manganese (Mn) and magnesium (Mg), sum of bases, CTC effective and pH, which provides considerable soil fertility. The IT of the SAF showed good results regarding carbon deposition and metabolization by microorganisms, demonstrating potential to reduce impacts, depending on organic matter (OM) and relief.
