Abstract

We propose in this article a reflection on the practice of Fieldwork as a methodology for the construction of geographic knowledge. In this sense, we discuss about Geography and its importance in reading and spatial perception, the fieldwork practice in the history of geographic thought, the potential of this activity type for teaching and learning in the 21st century. The approaches considered the Teaching of Geography in the perspective of education as an instrument of social transformation and the school as one of the places where the development of the subjects occurs to face the inequalities in contemporary capitalist society through a critical formation. The results converge to the importance of Fieldwork in the process of teaching and learning Geography with expressive interdisciplinary potential, despite the recurrent obstacles to this type of action not being realized.
