UNVEILING OF THE WORLD: PRACTICES AND PERSPECTIVES IN THE EXERCISE OF THE GEOGRAPHIC LOOK ON THE CITY

Abstract

The article proposes a discussion about the importance of the geographical space´s analysis as a resource to the practice of geography teaching. The reflection on the subjective complexity, the different forms of housing and work, as well as the socioeconomic and sociospatial conditions of human living should not be seen as mere description of facts and systems, but considering all its nuances and integrated scalar relations, performing real world reading. Done in praxis, the licensees were instructed to prepare questionnaires, interview people, take notice of the flow of fixed users and their location, examine the surroundings and the changes promoted, to discuss the valuation or not of the space around and understand the immateriality of issues surrounding the observed reality. The objective was to promote the exercise of looking at the space where students circulate daily, but over which he had not conducted the analysis as necessary to geographical science.
