Vaccination against covid-19 through an experienced female eye

During the pandemic caused by SARS-CoV-2, the social situation engaged discussions in an attempt to draw up which practices would be compromised with the integrity of human life. As they correspond to the age group that suffered the most due to the complications of Covid-19, old people could symbolize dimensions inherent in the main mechanism for combating the virus through interaction in the community. Therefore, we sought to understand the social representations of elderly participants in social groups about vaccination against Covid-19. This is a descriptive-exploratory study, with a qualitative approach, in which 26 elderly people enrolled in Family Health Units in João Pessoa, State of Paraíba, Brazil participated. Group interviews were applied, the content of which was recorded and transcribed, being processed by the Iramuteq software. The results showed two discursive axes where the vaccine meant an instrument of social security to re-establish the normality of everyday life, as well as being considered a provider of sociopolitical issues, essentially with regard to the informational scope and governance in health.
