Abstract

Studies on urban environmental vulnerability are needed to understand the relationship between society and nature in urbanized spaces. Such a need is even more urgent when the locus is inserted in a complex area, such as the Amazon region. This study aimed to analyze the environmental vulnerability of the city of Tefé (state of Amazonas/Brazil), using cartography, spatial modeling, and integrated analysis of nature. Methodologically, the 80 census tracts were subjected to statistical treatment, analysis of satellite images, field expeditions to verify the nine variables adopted, and cartographic production (QGis and Google Earth). The main results revealed that eight sectors were classified as having Low environmental vulnerability, totaling a spatial coverage of 4.53 km², followed by 23 sectors with High environmental vulnerability (2.27 km² of area), and 49 sectors of Medium environmental vulnerability (6.4 km² of area). The main variables with high statistical influence were those associated with garbage and open sewage, risks (mass movements and flooding), and vegetation cover, the latter variable also expressing the low rate of green areas in the city.
