A foucauldian analysis of discourses in relation to the family produced by students of Spanish of the High School

Abstract

The concept of bourgeois family, which appears so naturalized in common sense, is crossed by discursive formations (Foucault, 2014 [1969]) that legitimize a whole technical and disciplinary mechanism, supported by strategies of power that guarantee, thereby, the production of the entire social body, that is, the production of the whole society, configuring what Foucault called “biopower” (Foucault, 2002 [1971]; 2013a [1975]; 2013b [1977]), that is, the power over life, the way of being, living and functioning socially. This paper, anchored in theoretical approach of the French Discourse Analysis, aims to discuss the family model, which was established from the rise of the bourgeoisie, having as theoretical support the study developed by the historian Philippe Ariès (2014 [1978]), which analyzes the concepts of family from the Middle Ages to the modern age. Aligned with this perspective, it will be focused on foucauldian thinking which we will reflect on some notions postulated by the philosopher, such as, the relations of power-knowledge, body-soul, among other pertinent concepts, thus offering some analytical excerpts from written productions carried out by high school students through the image of a family, in which we can examine the speeches of these subjects in relation to this notion.
