Emergency remote teaching carried out in the indirect restorations and implants supported in the COVID-19 pandemic extension project

Abstract

This text reports synchronous and asynchronous activities of Emergency Remote Teaching, developed in the Extension Project Dento and Implant Supported Indirect Restorations using the Microsoft Teams Platform. This Extension Project performs restorative clinical treatment on natural teeth and dental implants in patients seeking care at UFMG. Undergraduate students, postgraduate assistants, and professors in the areas of Dentistry and Dental Prosthesis of the Department of Restorative Dentistry were responsible for carrying out the provision of service, considering they understood that the treatment using dental implants had provided individuals with a partial or total absence of teeth the restoration of oral health, restoring masticatory function and aesthetics, thus offering greater comfort and quality of life. Clinical activities were face-to-face until 2019. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, activities were transferred to Emergency Remote Teaching using the Microsoft Teams Platform. Twelve e-books were written and published with themes related to a prosthesis in the Brazilian Chamber of Books. The activities carried out provided the dissemination of new information on oral health for students and patients of the Faculty of Dentistry at UFMG, encompassing the concept of dialogic interaction with society.
